About the blogger–meet Jenifer

Hi PFLAG NH friends! I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself so you can know a little bit about the person behind the blog.

Quick background: I was born in rural Maine, but moved to NH when I was 18 and started attending New England College in Henniker.  I finished my undergraduate degree in English education there and started teaching at a public school in NH in 2001.  I attended Plymouth State University from 2005-2010 working on my graduate degree where I earned an M.Ed. in Teaching Writing by working with the National Writing Project in NH.  I am now a doctoral candidate at New England College (back to my roots!).

Family: I have been married for 22 years to my husband whom I met when I was 18 years old.  We have an amazing teenager together who we are incredibly proud of.

Identity: I’m a queer person raising a queer teenager.  I’m out here just trying to make the world a better place for us and all the queer people in our community.

Hobbies: I am a huge NERD :).  I love games and gaming of all kinds: video games, table top role-playing games (Like D&D), board games, card games, all of it!  I’m also really into houseplants and gardening, reading sci-fi and cheesy romance, and drinking iced coffee like it’s my  job.

I hope that helps to give you all a sense of who I am, and I am excited to share more about my ideas and experiences through this blog.

Lead with love!

<3 Jenifer
